Start the machine...

So this is the first posting of what will hopefully be a fairly well maintained blog in which you (my friends and family) can keep out to date with my travel and life overseas. My goal is to post at least weekly, so if I start slacking off let me know! I see myself posting lots of pictures, telling tales of my misadventures, and my general thoughts of my new experience in Europe. Please stop by occasionally and drop some comments just so I know at least someone out there is reading this!

For those of you who haven't been filled in completely, I am going to be studying abroad in London this Fall semester. I can't even describe how excited I am! I leave in just about a month from now (Sept. 2nd) and come back sometime before Christmas. (Really don't care right now). I'll be taking just 2 classes (art and history), working (see below), and traveling all over Europe.

Ever since I signed up to study abroad I wanted to get placement in the automotive industry doing some kind of IT/business work. I had a feeling if I didn't take matters into my own hands I'd just end up in a desk job like what I have stateside (no offense to Pioneer or Principal). I've really enjoyed my last two internships but I figured since I am abroad I should try to experience something new. So over the past six months I have been spamming all these great British brands MINI, TVR, Lotus, Bentley, Land Rover, Jaguar and well as some other European companies such as BMW and Audi looking for work placement. I got some replies back but no one wanted to hire some kid who could only work two days a week for 4 months, regardless of his experience or that I'm not supposed to be paid.

Anyways last week I came across this nice small little green company called Envy Motors. I sent them my resume and a nice little letter and within a few days I was hired! I will be serving as an executive assistant for the co-owner of this company doing everything from working with customers and marketing to database management and entrepreneurship. The best part is it sounds like he's going to give me a smart car or a Vectrix scooter while I'm there! I'm really hoping for the scooter. I'm a little nervous about driving on the wrong side of the road in heavy traffic but I think I'll live cause I think I'll pass the hospital on the way to work! Plus the company is right outside of Chelsea (a nice wealthy neighborhood) and a block away from the Chelsea Soccer Stadium! Should be a great experience! Below is a picture of my boss!

I'm realizing that I just wrote you a book so I'll stop there. haha
More to come later!
